Job Purpose

To supervise power plant operation and maintenance activities, ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient performance of generator units while leading maintenance teams and supporting asset reliability and operational excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Lead and supervise shift operation and maintenance activities for power generation equipment.
• Oversee preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programmes to ensure equipment reliability and availability.
• Plan, coordinate and supervise minor and major generator maintenance and overhaul activities.
• Ensure all maintenance work is performed in accordance with approved procedures, standards and safety requirements.
• Monitor generator performance, alarms and system conditions, taking corrective actions when required.
• Support load control, load sharing and power optimisation activities to maintain efficient plant operation.
• Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor generator SMU readings and coordinate maintenance requirements with the relevant teams.
• Lead and supervise multidisciplinary maintenance personnel, ensuring effective task allocation and performance management.
• Support commissioning and recommissioning activities following maintenance or repair work.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, operational procedures and HSE standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, availability and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Power Plant Engineering.

Required Experience

• 5–8 years of hands-on experience in power plant operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and overhaul of medium-speed diesel generator sets.
• 3–4 years of experience in a supervisory or team leadership role.
• Experience in preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Experience in generator overhaul, troubleshooting and reliability improvement.

Desired Experience (Optional)

• Experience with CAT 3600 Series Engines.
• Experience with HFO / CFO fuel systems and fuel treatment processes.
• Experience in generator commissioning and recommissioning activities.
